Interrupted programming....
Sorry for the sort-of radio silence, gang. Normally I don’t blog on Turkey Day, or the day after, but in this case I was hindered because my Mac has gone to CA to be repaired, so I’m using an older one. It’s a bit slow and can annoy me. So that’s why blogging has been sort of light. A post on Advent (linkage from CPG) coming soon, though.
Busy week as I head into December....

The Importance of Being Off Book
AKA, Richard’s title for the Earnest Rehearsal Schedule.
This is a massive, massive rehearsal schedule. We have rehearsal on New Year’s Day! (Shazam!) But since I’m not in Act I, that means I have less rehearsal days than the actors playing Jack/Algernon/Lady Bracknell/Gwendolyn. But yes, massive schedule. We start on the 4th and then full speed to opening night on January 13!

False Alarm?
So maybe it was just a bad PFT day?
CT scan is “stable” in relation to the one from August, so no bronch tomorrow.
I guess we’ll just chalk it up to bad PFT day.

At the Resort...
So…hanging out at the Blue Jackets’ Family Resource Center here at NCH.
Today was supposed to be a normal clinic visit, especially since I feel fine, but apparently not…my PFTs were down 8-9 points, and the CXR looked fine, so Dr. K wanted a CT scan. I just got that done and now I’m waiting for the results. If it shows anything scary/weird, then we’ll be bronching,...

Saturday Night Cooking: Thanksgiving Chili
I never thought I was a chili fan. All those beans? Yuck. No thanks.
But then I actually had chili.
It was Thanksgiving Day. I was with a boyfriend of mine—a southern boyfriend. We were at his mother’s house in Nashville. Apparently, Southern Thanksgiving is early in the day (as in, lunch), and the alcohol begins flowing at 9 am. And there were also guests coming for dinner. Not...

Popcorn: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,...
Since 99.5% of people have read HP and the Deathly Hallows, I’m not gonna give you a summary. I’m just going to give you notes.
The opening was brilliant. I about lost is, watching Hermione removing herself from her parents’ memories. Watching her disappear from the photos, from the house, from their lives—so sad.
Didn’t like watching the snake eat the teacher. Ew....

Organ Donation 101
EVERY TIME I read an article about Organ Donation, there are online comments that reveal the flat-out wrongness of some people’s perception of organ donation.
So, I’m gonna set the record straight. Again. Please pass around!
1) Organ donation has nothing to do with social status, wealth, etc. People who receive organs are receiving the organ because of various medical factors....

Emily's "Getting Her Life On Track" Program...
Awhile back (I think SEptember-ish?) we talked about my goal to get my “life on track” —get (somewhat) fit, get organized, etc. etc. Getting cast in Earnest definitely fits the “improve resume” category; the apartment heads toward more organization (as in, clutter-ness stays about for a shorter period of time, because I can tolerate it less).
But as for the...

Sort-of Simple Woman's Daybook--November 25, 2010
I’m in a random mood today, so random Daybook-ness. :)
What I’m Listening to: Josh Groban’s new CD, Illuminations. Really great! Yes, I love Josh (I sort of want to marry him…he’s not that much older than me!), but this is a super-great album. He wrote most of the songs, and there’s even a song in Portuguese! (Which is a totally underutilized language.) And...

Tiffany & Co.
fromme-toyou:
A classic New York institution, a father / daughter moment. For one evening in New York I got to feel like the luckiest girl in Manhattan when my father took me to Tiffany’s for a gift ‘just because’.
Thank you Dad for this memory, I’ll cherish them always just as I do you.
Photo of me by Dad.

A small request
Dear everyone: When talking about people with a disease or medical condition, can we eliminate the phrase “suffers from”?
Who came up with this awful phrase, anyway?
I propose we say “has” or “has been diagnosed with”.
I’ve had CF, and CF issues, since I was 11. That’s 17 years now. And yeah, some of it involved suffering.
“But most of it...

Doctor, doctor...
So because Tumblr was being SILLY yesterday, couldn’t post.
Anyway, lots of doctor visits lately. All normal, but still, a lot.
Yesterday: CF clinic post-transplant follow-up at Children’s. These are easy. See a doc, run over the meds, and maybe do PFTs. No PFTs yesterday because there was also regular CF clinic going on, and Dr. K didn’t want to run the chance of me picking up...

Callback: The Importance of Being Earnest
So today I went to my first call back!
I was called yesterday to come back to the Columbus Civic Theater and read for Cecily and Miss Prism (The Importance of Being Earnest) again. So today at 4:30 callbacks began. Four other girls read for Cecily, with two different Algernons. Only one other girl read for Miss Prism (at least while I was there). While I thought my Cecily was good, I thought my...
