Simple Woman's Daybook--January 30, 2012
Outside my window…sunny! It’s going to be almost 60 degrees tomorrow. This is January? I’ll take it.  I am wearing…jeans and a peach sweater. My body isn’t being super-cooperative today so I’m at home. Sigh. Body can’t wait for the sinuses to be drained!  From the kitchen…citrus couscous w/ edible flowers for dinner. Later this week: asparagus,...

Downton Digressions, IV
I love William! He’s so brave.  Matthew as war commander. I like it.  Side note: How did ANYONE fight a war when it was all yelling and charging at each other with swords? I would have been scared stiff. There would have been no running, no anything….just terror. “Daisy, what’s the matter with you?” “Someone walked over my grave…”  Mary and her...

Very BRIEF Oscar talk
I have to clean my place in prep for a parental visit tomorrow, and while that just means polishing some pots and vacuuming, that’s more than I seem to want to handle right now. So, very brief Oscar run down—more to come probably tomorrow.  Best Picture (italic indicates I’ve seen it; bold indicates it’s on DVD/Blu-Ray; underline means I’ll be seeing it in the near...

Daybook--January 23, 2012
Outside my window…dark and windy. The weather has been insane this year. It was maybe 10 degrees on Friday and now it’s in the 50s? Huh? So confusing. I am wearing…a camisole and sweatpants—just out of the tub and going to do some bookshelving/yoga/ballet beautiful after this. I need to get a chair for reading in the book room, post haste. In the CD player…Eva...

Downton Digressions, III
Whoa, Isobel! Withdrawn the claws! “Never had a job” indeed!  Oh, Isobel, take the injury down a notch. Geez Louise. She’s like a five year old. “I mean it! I really do!” This is so immature of her. “Well, I’ll run away and you’ll miss me then!” (Gag)  Ah, more of Branson’s prognosticating. “The real fight for Ireland will come...

Sunday night means.....
The Mary and Matthew Show! And another installment of “Downton Digressions” immediately to follow. WHO’S EXCITED? :)  (Really, I Just want to see the above scene. Over and over and over again. Sadly, I live in the U.S., not the U.K., so it’s just a picture until they broadcast this ep over here.)

Ice princess
Well, sort of.  It looks like my car is iced in—oh, joy of Ohio winters!—but I’m going to investigate a bit later. Like, say, after noon. I’m supposed to go to a concert tonight, and I was excited about that, so my car better cooperate. But in the meantime—there will be brownies baked today! Recipe will be posted after I make them. I’m making them sans icing....

Seven Quick Takes
1. A big off today—the body gets cranky when it’s get cold, which is why I tend to like summer better. Even post transplant and on prednisone, the joints are not so fun in the winter. And big magnets in the head make for head issues…but anyway, feeling better now, so maybe they just needed a day off, which they do need, occasionally. And in my increasing age (ha!), I have...

Amelia and transplantations
This has been making the rounds on the blogs, and even news outlets—WaPo, NYT, msnbc, etc—have picked it up. If you haven’t read it (or don’t want to read the link), here’s the salient points:  Amelia “Mia” Rivera has Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a complex genetic disorder that causes mental and physical impairments, and her family said that the 3-year-old...

Simple Woman's Daybook--January 16, 2011
Outside my window…a bit dark, and grey…typical winter in Ohio! But I have the day off, so that’s good. Snow is melting in patches here and there.  I am wearing…a green and blue striped sweater; green tank top underneath (layers, people, layers!), jeans, warm socks, brown shoes.  In the CD player…still a mix CD I am hearing…the dripping of icicles.  I am...
